A conversation

KK: Don't touch me!
Sparky: But I am electric man and I electrocute people.
KK: OK, but don't touch me.

Denial

As I looked deeply into my delicious little Tiger's eyes, I noticed that his baby blues are turning into baby greys. SAD! I never really thought that I would have a blue eyed child since no one in my family has blue eyes, but when KK was born and her eyes were so blazing blue, I was quite thrilled. Alas, the blue was not meant to be and around 4 years old her eyes started turning grey and now, at the age of 7, they seem to have landed at some sort of dark green. Well, it appears that the same thing is happening to my last child. His eyes have always been so very blue, but those days appear to be in the past. So I guess the question now is what color of green will his eyes be in the end?

Big Bang Theory Quote of the Week

Sheldon: For your information, I only drink hot chocolate during months that end with and "r".
Howard: Why?
Sheldon: What's life without whimsy?

Skills

This boy has just recently learned how to work the mouse. I have been waiting a very long time for this moment and a whole new world has opened up for the both of us. No more am I stuck holding him on my lap while I am forced to play mind numbing games involving, but not limited to Thomas the Tank Engine, Super Why, Pingu the penguin, and more Thomas the Tank Engine. Never fear however, he is a master whiz on Mario Kart for the DS.

How do you say "No"?

The following conversation took place Monday night at dinner:

Tiger: I'm all done. I do my jobs now.

Me: It's raining outside. You can't go outside, now eat your dinner. (The kids always have to do their jobs and homework before they go outside)

Tiger: I do my homework now.

Me: It's raining outside. You're not going outside.

Tiger: OK, I do my jobs now and then we go buy flip flops. You all done Daddy? We go buy flip flops. I go in Mommy's car and we buy flip flops. Come on Daddy. You all done now? Bye Mom, I go buy flip flops. Come on Daddy. I go buy flip flops.

So, what else were we supposed to do? We bought the kid some flip flops.

On a side note: He insisted on wearing them to bed that night and the next morning his toes were so sore that he couldn't even wear them.

Morning's First Utterings

Tiger: I go to sleep in the caterpillar's bed. He is cuddly and green, oh and blue.

I went to the Zoo. . .again

Going to the Zoo two days in a row on two different field trips is awesome. But just look at this excited face. How could I not go to the Zoo with this girl?

We of course started out with the Polar Bears which turned out to be just as fun as the day before.
Here he was just playing in the water right up next to the glass.
Next came the Brown Bears. It was very cool to watch these two fighting and it went on for quite a while. I would later find out that after our group left the area, the "fighting" turned into something a bit more intimate. I am so glad that I didn't have to explain that to the little first graders.
KK really liked this statue of a moose. It was big and cool and she was very disappointed that she couldn't climb on it and so I just took her picture in front of it instead.
The girl was very tentative about going into the little petting area. In fact she totally freaked out anytime a goat came anywhere near her. However, after observing that there were lots of children actually touching the goats without being ferociously attacked, she gave the brush a go and actually enjoyed herself for a moment.
Badum, badum. That's all folks.

The Zoo. . .and Flingos

I really should start turning on my computer more often. My blogging presence has been seriously lacking lately. I'll have to see what I can do about that. Moving on. This has been a very full week in the month of MAYhem. I just love all of the millions of activities that the schools are trying to cram into these last few weeks of school. It is awesome. The big highlight this week was the Zoo. On Thursday I had the chance to go with Tiger's preschool class to the Zoo for a field trip. The boy was beyond excited, especially since they have Flingos and the Polar Bears have finally come.
Tiger loves Polar Bears and they were very active the morning we were there.
It took a very long time for these little 3-year-old legs to make it all the way to the Polar Bears. On the way back down he was plum tuckered out and did not want to go any farther. Can I just say that the three kids who were in my charge this day were not quick movers. It was like trying to pour molasses. Needless to say, we did not see many animals.
A boy after lunch and feeling a bit rejuvenated. Plus, we were on to see the. . .
FLINGOS!! Hip hooray! It really was a great day and the kids were very cute but I came home with sore feet, a sore back and extremely exhausted. Tiger, on the other hand, came home full of energy and enthusiasm so I crashed on the couch and decided that Tiger needed to spend some time alone in his room.

A new umbrella

Tiger has been dying for an umbrella. So when we were walking through the store the other day and he saw the umbrellas, I just had to buy one for him. Since then he has been using it any chance he gets.

I love this picture because underneath this groovy shirt, the boy is strutting commando.

So I've been a little busy

Life has been crazy and I haven't had much time for sitting around at the computer and blogging like I normally do. You see, we are trying to get our house ready to sell and there is A LOT that needs to get done in order for it to be ready. I was originally trying to have the house ready by May 1 with the intention that, of course the house would sell immediately and that we would then find the perfect house to move into right away and then everything would be set for the kids to start school in the fall wherever their new school will be (unless of course wherever we move keeps us at the same school). Well, that date has come and gone and I am still very far from my goal. Doug has helped me to see that is OK because for the last month or so I have been working like crazy and according to my family, I have been acting crazy as well. I think the fact that I haven't been sleeping and that the house has turned into a trash pit may be contributing to my craziness. So, for these reasons we have decided that we don't need to move right away. Moving right now is a bit of a leap of faith anyway and so instead of killing myself (and possibly everyone else around me) I am just going to slow down. Don't worry (Mom), I am still getting the house ready to sell, I am just doing it at a much slower pace and when it's ready, it's ready. Whew. I feel much better about this plan of attack. Perhaps now I can start sleeping again.

Sahweet!!

We had to pry these lovelies out of his cute little fingers. He was determined to buy them.

A Poem by KK

Hamsters

Hamsters are cuddly.
