These are my thoughts for tonight:
Why do kids, through their tears and tantrums of exhaustion, try to tell me that they are not tired? It's like when kids are swimming and they are shivering and blue and they try to say that they aren't cold.
Why do I continue to stay up so late every night when I am just exhausted and I really want to sleep?
Why must coughs last FOREVER?
Why don't I spend more time at bookstores? They are such happy places. I just love to roam the aisles dreaming and wanting.
Why is it so impossible and painful to find jeans that fit. I need Clinton and Stacy.
Why are babies so incredibly delicious and why won't my kids stop growing farther and farther away from that baby deliciousness?
Why won't the snow stop?
Why won't laundry fold itself (if you haven't yet noticed, I have some serious laundry issues)?

Questions and proclamations
KK: Mom, how old you you have to be to call boys?
Me: I don't know.
KK: A teenager?
Me: Yep, you have to be a teenager. Why, is there a boy you want to call?
KK: Yes, I want to call Jacob.
Me: Why, do you like Jacob?
KK: Yessss, he's my friend, duh.
Me: Oh, well I am afraid you can't call him.
KK: We used to hang out in the field together and talk about things. He likes the color pink. Anyone can like the color pink you know. I mean, if you like the color pink, then you like the color pink. That's just all there is to it. No one can tell you that you can't like the color pink. That's just wrong.

Snow Day
Our world is currently covered with snow, my head is pounding, and I have a cold that refuses to go away. But on this snowy day I am feeling a bit nostalgic for my childhood in Colorado. All of this snow has brought back memories of my own snowy childhood days and of the snow forts and tunnels that my brother and I used to make. Today's memory was all about lunch: Tuna sandwiches, Lays potato chips, and chocolate milk. This is what my dad would always make and although tuna wasn't always my favorite, this meal holds a special place in my heart. So today I made this lunch for myself and it was fabulous.

On Sunday:
Tiger: Daddy, are you wearing a tie?
Doug: Yes
Tiger: No, you're wearing a Tyler!

Thank You Notes
Dear KK,
I would like to thank you for waiting until this morning to throw up. I greatly appreciate not having my night interrupted and am a much happier mom because of it. I will happily do anything I can for you today.
Love,
Mom

Dear Sparky,
I would like to thank you for your ever-increasing surly attitude these days. I look forward to the real teenage years. I can only hope they bring more of the same.
Love,
Mom

Dear Tiger,
I would like to thank you for your increasing clingyness and for the need that you feel for me to do absolutely everything for you. I would also like to thank you for waking up at the crack of dawn all weekend thereby causing me to be unbelievably cranky and tired all weekend long. Finally, I would like to thank you for then sleeping in today when I had to wake up so very early to get the kids off to school. You're a peach.
Love,
Mom
