One of us parents is more fun than the other one

Doug is not the kind of Dad who just sits around all day lazily watching TV or wishing to be left alone. He is a man who likes to be out and about (really, the opposite of me). This day was no exception. Last Saturday it was chilly and drizzly. I thought that it was a perfect day to hang out at home, but Doug saw it as the perfect day to go to the Zoo. He loves to take the kids to the Zoo on days like this. It is never crowded and the animals are always out. So, he packed up the kids and headed out on an adventure. They all had a blast.

I don't really have anything to say

So I'll just post this picture because this boy is just plain sweet.  Seriously.  I want to eat him up.
Now, if I could just get this dang headache to go away life would be good.  Yay for hereditary headaches!  But, on the plus side, I finally folded my laundry.  The threat level has been removed and my family thanks me for drawers full of socks and underwear.

Happy Easter

After the most painful mini-photo session, this is as good as it gets.  I love these little stinkers, and little stinkers they are.

For the love of Crocs

Over Spring Break, we took a little day trip down to see my cousins.  We love to visit the cousins.  We always have a lot of fun just hanging out and playing and the kids have a blast as well.  This trip was no exception and was probably even the highlight of Spring Break.  Well, on our way home after our visit we decided to stop at the outlet mall and check out the Crocs store.  My little Tiger was in need of some new Crocs and I was hoping to find some killer deals.  The deals were not to be had on this particular day, but while we were there I thought that it would be a good idea to try some Crocs on the kids so that I would know what sizes to get them in the future.  As soon as I put a pair onto Tiger's feet he said, "Ok, let's go now."  I then tried to explain to my sweet little man that we weren't actually buying the Crocs, we were just trying them on so that I would know what size he needed.  He looked at me, and then he proceeded to crumple in on himself and cry the saddest, most mournful cry I have ever heard, especially for a pair of shoes.  Doug and I just looked at each other in bewilderment.  It then dawned on me that this little man has had a pair of blue Crocs on his feet basically since he could walk (of course since he is my precious baby and last child I have always splurged for the real Crocs instead of some knock-off like the other kids always got).  He has always loved them and this reaction made me realize that he has been like a sailor without a ship for the last 6 months since he outgrew his last pair.  Putting these new blue Crocs on his feet was a completion of himself and here I was trying to take that away.  Well, he left us no choice.  We had to buy them, even though they weren't on sale (gulp) and even though I know that I could find them cheaper somewhere else.  But I understand that you can't put a price on the completion of oneself, especially one who is 4.  Anyway, he is happy now and has worn them every single day, regardless of the temperature.  Plus, I am sure I have earned some good mom points for this one.

Grrrr

Last week was spring break.
I had the kids home all week.
We did some fun things (perhaps a more in-depth post will come at a future date).
Doug worked. . .a lot.
We didn't really see him.
Now I am cranky.
It probably started when spring break started.
But it won't go away.
I am just really snarly.
I shouldn't be around people.
At all.
Have a great day!

We don't get out much

but this night we did.
A few weeks ago my love took me out to my favorite restaurant (scallops and lobster risotto, mmmmmm) and then was kind enough to accompany me to see Les Miserables for the multipleth time.  It was not his idea of heaven, but it was mine and since he loves me he gave the night to me.  My parents were also kind enough to take the kids for the night which made the weekend ever better!  I think, however, that the next time I see Les Miserables, I am going to have to find someone else to be my date.  He might not quite love me enough to watch it again.

Mr. Sandman

Doesn't this little boy look precious?  Isn't he sleeping like a little angel and having sweet little angel dreams?  Why yes, yes he is.  The only problem is that he is not in his own bed.  Nope.  The little stinker decided to climb out of his bed and into his brother's bed.  Funny little guy.  Sparky discovered the little stowaway when he went to climb into bed and felt a strange lump under his covers.  Really, I don't blame the kid.  Sparky does have the most comfortable bed in the house.
